A Glimpse of Sydney Centre
7:40 am was a good time to arrive at the Sydney Airport, the greeting staff, the pleasant surroundings and the sign posts introduce a start of a "Gidday Mate!" in Sydney.
Getting through the immigration and customs was stressfree. We got off the airport so quickly with our luggage.
Metered taxi was the best medium to get to the hotel from the airport. Australia never lied about Sydney, the city is indeed fantastic. Tall buildings here and there, cafes, busy streets and people walking heading for work.
Getting through the immigration and customs was stressfree. We got off the airport so quickly with our luggage.

Picking up Britz Renegade
The depot at Mascot, Sydney Branch are manned with friendly representatives: Lynn, Yanna and Andrew welcomed us with warm gestures. Everything else around are tidy and relaxed. There's a lounge if you need to wait, vending machines, THL souvenir shop and a shelf where you can acquire maps and travel advice for FREE.

Before taking the vehicle, we watched a video orientation of our campervan, its a normal pick-up procedure and I thought that it is full of great benefits on safety and vehicle usage. We got our campervan without any hassle. Our first destination - Port Stephens.
The 6 Berth Britz Renegade was the best choice for us - 4 adults and 2 children. It is a dual cab campervan so all of us can be seated facing forward.

Sydney to Port Stephens
Buckled up and we passed Sydney University, Liverpool Streets, up the Harbour Bridge (viewing the Opera House), Kurring-gai National Park via the Pacific Highway, the Gusford, Somersby, Ourimbah, Freeman’s Road, Palmers Road, and Lemon Tree Passage where we have booked a campground at Discovery Holiday Parks.
We were caught in a heavy traffic before entering Port Stephens, it took us about an hour to get to Gosford Exit. But it was okay because we were in a comfortable Britz Renegade, so car sickness wasn't an issue even with the kids. Road is wide, well maintained and sign posted so it wasn't stressful at all traverse to Port Stephens.

The backdrop of the Rocky Mountains was magnificent and there are other natural attractions embellished our trip to Port Stephens: Anna Bay, Shoal Bay and Fingal Bay. These coastal points were worth pulling through.

Stay at Discovery Holiday Park - Port Stephens
Discovery Holiday Park in Port Stephens is highly recommended to campers who prefer a quite stay while having opportunities for holiday amenities like swimming pool, tennis court, beach volleyball court, playground, barbecue grill area and the entertainment area.
We never had a dull moment, the facilities were great and if you need a mild adventure you do boating, kayaking and fishing.
Discovery Holiday Park surrounded their area with trees and bushes. And we were lucky to have taken a spot near the shore. We got a cabin that is huge and cozy.

A wonderful lady welcomed us whom we thought is the owner. There they offered wide variety of wines and first in line we tasted is the LUNAS PARK which are late picked semillion grapes used to produced MOSCATO style wines.
Earnest Hill Wines offer limited edition wines and they directly sell wines through mail order, online, and of course from their cellar.

Sawtell and BIG4 Emerald Beach Holiday Park
Before heading to Emerald Beach Holiday Park, we had lunch in Sawtell as suggested to us by a co-guest in Hat Head, and without a doubt, it is a fantastic coastal town and the beach is superb!

Byron Bay - Camping, Dining, Surfing
From Emerald Beach Holiday Park we headed towards Byron Bay, busiest town we'd ever been. Maybe because we arrived in the weekend and everyone are taking a dose of after work or after school fun.
And since it was weekend, we had little trouble finding a place to stay with our RV. We arrived at 5pm and most campsites and hotels are booked out. But, we were still lucky to find a hotel for an overnight stay - Wollongbar Motel.

Although we had to park our campervan on the nearby street because our hotel has low clearance and limited parking space.
Wollongbar Motel is not a frontbeach hotel. Nevertheless, the beautiful beaches of Byron Bay are walking distance away.
I knew we'd be lucky again on the next day! We found a campsite were there is more room to move - First Sun Holiday Park, a beach front holiday park on Lawson Street close to Byron Bay's center.

Everybody says that Dreamworld is the best place to go if you are looking for a safe adventure. And it is indeed true to our expectation.
We consumed the whole afternoon with all the rides and the beauty of the animals.
The Thunder River Rapids Ride, The Claw and the Giant Drop are never to be missed! Although Giant Drop and The Claw are perhaps not recommended for people with heart ailments.

Returning Britz Renegade in Brisbane
Sydney to Brisbane was a great journey! It's time to return Britz Renegade so we headed to the Brisbane branch located at 21 Industry Court, Eagle Farm.
MyDriveHoliday makes campervan hire so easy, visit Campervan hire Brisbane
To no surprise, the depot was similar to the branch in Sydney - huge and nice! Campervans line up outside the office waiting for another set of campers to pick them up.
The office has a lounge for waiting clients. They also have a self-check in area to assist clients with the pick up procedure and speed-up the process.
